Kaufman & Canoles seeks a lateral partner to join our thriving environmental practice group. We represent a variety of companies with hazardous waste and Superfund matters in multiple states or around the country, and the person we seek will have an established, self-sustaining practice that can be blended with ours and supported from our Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, Virginia Beach or Williamsburg offices. The Norfolk office of Kaufman & Canoles seeks a qualified Legal Assistant to perform a variety of administrative duties in support of Commercial Attorneys.  Candidates must possess a minimum of three years' relevant work experience or a combination of relevant work and educational experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010, and typing skills at a level of 65 WPM. Must have exceptional organizational skills, superior verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work successfully within a team environment.  Must also be able to handle confidential information with discretion and demonstrate the highest level of client service and response.  A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Conflicts Analyst

The Norfolk office of Kaufman & Canoles seeks a qualified Conflicts Analyst to perform a variety of administrative duties in support of attorneys and staff throughout the firm.  The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for analyzing specific Conflict of Interest searches for new client matters.  Candidates must exhibit an advanced ability to perceive and analyze problems and develop alternative strategies to solve them.  Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships are essential.  B.S./B.A. in Business Administration, Paralegal Studies, or a related discipline preferred.  Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
