Practice Manager

The Kaufman & Canoles Family Law practice is seeking a qualified Practice Manager to serve as a paralegal and project manager of the day-to-day operations of a busy, sophisticated family-law practice in our Virginia Beach office.  The Practice Manager will perform a variety of project management and paraprofessional duties.  In addition to managing individual case files, the position entails preparing documents including letters and child support worksheets. College degree in a related field or Paralegal Certificate required.  J.D. is desirable but not an absolute requirement.  Must possess 3 or more years’ experience in family domestic law. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 (Word and Excel), LegalBar, Vader forms and typing at a level of 50 WPM. We offer competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit package.  Relocation for  candidates out of the area is available for this position.  Benefits include:  medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k)/profit sharing, paid time off, long term and short term disability.

Records Manager

The Norfolk office of Kaufman and Canoles is  seeking a qualified Records Manager to maintain the daily operations of the Records Departments.  The Records Manager is responsible for the oversight of conflict of interest checks, the creation, maintenance, and tracking of legal files, the execution of the new business intake process (including creating physical files and performing background investigations),  and electronically tracking the status of files.  Manage the effectiveness and productivity of staff  in the Records Department . Directly supervise staff who conduct conflict checks and execute the new business intake process.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field and/or be a Certified Records Manager with five or more years in a supervisory role.  Law firm experience preferred but not essential.  Must possess the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 Word and Excel are required.
