Kaufman & Canoles Announces New Partners (2009)

HAMPTON ROADS - JANUARY 2009 - Kaufman & Canoles is pleased to announce that ANTHONY W. BASCH, R. JOHAN CONROD JR, DUSTIN H. DEVORE, SHAD C. FAGERLAND, AMY L. HARMAN, NICOLE J. HARRELL, W. HUNTER OLD, JONATHAN B. REED, and DAVID J. SULLIVAN have become partners of the firm.

MR. BASCH is a member of the firm’s commercial section in our Richmond office where he advises clients on securities, corporate finance, private equity, and commercial transactions. He received his A.B. from Wabash College, his M.A. from Indiana University, and his J.D. from Washington and Lee University.

MR. CONROD is a member of the firm’s litigation section in our Norfolk office where his practice focuses his practice focuses on complex civil cases, including policyholder coverage disputes, Section 1983 suits, defamation claims and real property litigation. He received his B.A. from Liberty University and his J.D. the University of Virginia.

MR. DEVORE is a member of the firm’s commercial section in our Williamsburg office where his practice focuses on real estate finance and business representation. He received his B.A. from Virginia Military Institute, and his J.D. from William & Mary School of Law following service in the United States Marines.

MR. FAGERLAND is a member of the firm’s employee benefits and executive compensation section in our Williamsburg office where he advises clients on the design of qualified and nonqualified deferred compensation plans and employee stock ownership plans. He received his B.A. from Augustana College, his M.A. from Iowa State University, and his J.D. from Yale Law School.

MS. HARMAN is a member of the firm’s real estate finance section in our Norfolk office where her practice focuses on commercial real estate development transactions, leasing and finance, and banking and lender representation. She received her B.S.B.A. from the University of Richmond and her J.D. from the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law.

MS. HARRELL is a member of the firm’s commercial section in our Norfolk office where she advises clients on franchising, commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property law. She received her B.A. from Hollins College, her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law, and M.B.A. from the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business.

MR. OLD is a member of the firm’s litigation section in our Williamsburg office where his practice focuses on commercial and real estate litigation, aviation law, and environmental law. He received his B.A. from the College of William and Mary and his J.D. from George Mason School of Law.

MR. REED is a member of the firm’s commercial section in our Norfolk office where he advises clients on private equity, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions. He received his B.A. from Washington and Lee University and his J.D. from William and Mary School of Law.

MR. SULLIVAN is a member of the firm's labor and employment section in our Norfolk office where he represents employers in a variety of litigation matters and provides litigation avoidance counseling on a broad range of personnel policies, practices, and issues. He also represents professional athletes as a certified player agent. Mr. Sullivan received his B.S. from Syracuse University and his J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
